FAQ
How long do spray tans last?
7-10 days depending on the clients skin, preparation of tan and how you take care of your tan after your appointment. Check out the CARE page!
Do spray tans stain?
Spray tans are water-based and should not stain. They may come off onto fabrics before your first rinse off, however, any transfer is washable.
How long before an event should I be spray tanned?
Ideally about 30 hours prior. Sooner the better! A spray tan should always be last in your beauty routine.
Rapid solutions (4-6 hours process time) are always an option though if you need a spray tan the day of!
Do spray tans cause acne?
The short answer is no. Spray tans are water-based and therefore, widely non-pore-clogging.
Can I spray tan prior to vacation?
YES! Spray tanning before vacay is super popular. You can even form a natural tan underneath a spray tan because a spray tan only affects the top layer of the skin.
Do spray tan acts as 'Base tan'?
No. Spray tans do not provide any sun protection and cannot act as a base tan. Spray tans DO NOT protect against sunburns, they are entirely artificial. Use SPF over your spray tan.
How do spray tans work?
Spray tans affect the top layer of dead skin cells/amino acids on the skin’s surface. The DHA in the spray tan changes the colour of the top layer of skin through a harmless chemical reaction. DHA, the active ingredient in most UV-free tanning products is derived from sugar cane extract and other natural sources.
Care
How to Prepare your Skin for your Custom Spray Tan?
- Shower and exfoliate your entire body (especially dry areas) the day prior to your spray tan.
- Do any hair removal 24-48+ hours prior to your spray tan, hair removal is optional.
- Come to your appointment with product-free clean skin, no makeup, oils, or lotions.
- Wear loose dark clothing to your appointment. Sweatpants are always loved!
TIPS:
- Drink extra water leading up to your appointment
- DO NOT use cream-based soaps (ex. Dove)
- EXFOLIATE using a rough non-oily scrub
- Pay extra attention to neck, elbows, knees, hands, ankles when exfoliating
FAV D.I.Y. EXFOLIANT
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup coconut oil
Half fresh lemon
10 drops of essential oils (a clean product)
How to MAINTAIN YOUR spray tan?
- DO NOT get your skin wet during your processing time (before your initial rinse, after your spray)
- DO NOT wax or exfoliate following your tan, be extra gentle with your skin
- Moisturize twice daily and drink extra water, keep your skin as hydrated as possible!!
FIRST SHOWER AFTER YOUR TAN:
- Your first shower after your sunless tan should be a quick rinse in lukewarm water using very little to no body wash. Pat yourself dry and apply moisturizer immediately after!
TIPS:
- DO NOT use Dove products or any harsh soaps
- When shaving, use a fresh razor as a dull razor will remove your tan
- AVOID working out for 24 hours following your spray tan
- When showering, use your hands to wash your body gently. No loofahs/exfoliating brushes or mitts.
- When you see your tan begin to fade and want to book another spray tan, this is when you can gently exfoliate to remove with a loofah/exfoliating brush or mitt.

*ALL rescheduling and changes must be done 48 hours+ in advance to your appointment*
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be done within 48 hours in order to receive your deposit back or you can use that deposit towards your rescheduled appointment if you choose to.
Lateness Policy: If you are running late to your appointment please let me know asap! I’ll try my best to reschedule you but if you are more than 15 minutes late to an appointment without any notice, it will automatically be treated as a no-show and you will not receive your deposit back.

About Me
I am a certified Custom Spray Tan and Makeup Artist based in Doylestown, PA. My journey began with having a passion for beauty. Graduating from Makeup Designory NYC in 2019, I became a Freelance Makeup Artist at MAC in 2020. This gave me the experience and skill to create my own business of Freelance Makeup where I have worked with brides on their wedding day. My goal was always to make my clients feel their most beautiful self from the inside out. I want my clients to GLOW. I continue to dedicate my life’s purpose to empower women and that led me to my first Spray Tan Studio.
Afterglow By Francesca was created to allow women to express themselves and feel their most authentic self. Spray Tanning allowed me to share my art with my clients and to remind them that their outer glow will always be a byproduct of their inner glow. With the mission to create a safe space for women to feel powerful and divine, I believe in leaving my own magical AFTERGLOW with my beautiful clients through the experience of human connection.
